BACKGROUND

The EPP Vlami primary school, with its 6 classes, currently has 372 students. The situation is critical: classrooms, designed for 40 to 45 students, often accommodate between 50 and 74 students, requiring children to sit at least three per bench instead of two. As a result of this overcrowding, the school was forced to refuse new students at the beginning of the 2024 school year, due to a lack of space and benches available.

An Ambitious Project for the Future

To remedy this situation, Action For Africa is committed to building six new classrooms, equipped with a sufficient number of benches. This extension will not only make it possible to welcome more students from surrounding areas, but also to reduce trips to remote schools, thus limiting the risks of school dropouts.

But the association's commitment does not end there. In addition to building new classrooms, Action For Africa is also planning to renovate the school's two existing buildings. This renovation will include the rehabilitation of the current classrooms, the painting of the entire school fence and the rehabilitation of the toilets. These improvements are critical to providing a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Impact on the Community

This action will have a significant impact on the local community. By providing adequate infrastructure, Action For Africa contributes to ensuring equitable access to education for all children in the region. The new facilities will make it possible to unclog existing classrooms, thus offering students optimal learning conditions.

“We are deeply committed to supporting education in Côte d'Ivoire. The construction of new classrooms at EPP Vlami Primary School is a crucial step in providing children with an environment conducive to their academic and personal development,” said Action For Africa School Projects Manager. “Our aim is to create spaces where every child can learn and thrive.”

Mobilization and Support

The success of this project also depends on the mobilization of the community and local partners. Action For Africa invites local authorities, businesses and citizens to join this collective effort to improve education in Bonon. Collaboration between the various actors is essential to ensure the sustainability and success of this initiative.

In conclusion, Action For Africa's action at EPP Vlami primary school is a concrete example of the positive impact that humanitarian organizations can have on education in Côte d'Ivoire. By building new classrooms and renovating existing infrastructures, the association offers the children of Bonon a chance to receive a quality education in a healthy and safe environment. This initiative is an important step towards a better future for students and the community at large.
